World's First High-rise Holon Apartment Building Completed in Xiangyin

The Holon Building is under construction.


The world's first high-rise Holon building was completed in Xiangyin County, Yueyang on January 11, 2024. Only five days, from January 7 to 11, were spent to build this 26-tier building which can accommodate 200 households.


It is a high-end apartment building for talents, covering a construction area of 14,000 square meters and can accommodate 600 to 1,000 people. Holon building technology was adopted for the construction, featuring container mode transportation and modular installation.


The Holon building is a kind of factory-made stainless steel structure developed by the BOARD Group. The floor slab adopts "ultra-strong and ultra-light" stainless steel slab, reducing steel usage of the entire building by 60 percent and not an inch of concrete is used at all. All of the structure, decoration, and electromechanical work of a Holon building are pre-made in factories, and the only procedure to be conducted on site is bolt connection. The Holon building has transformed the construction industry in the hand-made stage into the one with modern industrialization technology, taking a lead in the global architectural revolution.

The construction site was tidy, without the mess of concrete, scaffolds, boards, and construction wastes that typically characterize the conventional sites.

The stainless steel used in the Holon building is a ductile material, with an elongation of more than 40 percent and being extremely light in weight. So that the destructive power of the earthquake on the building is greatly reduced. Besides, under the premise of meeting the official fire regulations, a Holon building is equipped with an "external fire escape ladder" on each floor, which will effectively protect the safety of residents.


The Holon building can achieve 90% more energy efficient than that of conventional buildings, by means of its 22-cm rock wool for exterior walls, 4-paned windows, exterior and interior shades, and fresh air heat recovery technology.


This Holon building in Xiangyin is pre-produced in a 60,000-sqm standard workshop. Relying on a standard production line composed of 96 robots, 60 sets of laser welding systems, and more than 200 high-precise equipment, 1,000 workers can produce 10,000 sqm of Holon building per day. The work efficiency is 50 times higher than that of the traditional ways.


The building is completed.


This apartment building has eight 68-sqm apartments on each floor, equipped with four elevators. The residents can arrange the interior decorations according to their needs, said a manager of the Holon Building project.
