Recently the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs made public a proposed list of the fourth batch of national green agricultural development pilot zones. Yueyang's Junshan District, Yiyang's Taojiang County, and Xiangtan's Shaoshan City were shortlisted.

In order to accelerate all-round green transition in agricultural development, eight government organs including the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Science and Technology have launched the application process for the fourth batch of national green agricultural development pilot zones. A total of 80 zones were selected nationwide.

The national agricultural green development pilot zones are comprehensive experimental and demonstration platforms aimed at promoting green agricultural development. According to the requirements, each zone should focus on intensifying the efficient use of agricultural resources, reducing inputs, recycling waste resources, and industrializing green agriculture. The zones are encouraged to speed up exploration of differentiated ways and models for green agricultural development and to set an example in taking the lead in the green transition of agricultural development and driving rural ecological revitalization.

The three selected areas in Hunan play an exemplary role in green agricultural  development.

Taojiang County is recognized as a national green energy county and a provincial agricultural product quality and safety county. Its project on safe utilization of polluted arable land has been recommended by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment as a model case.

Junshan District is among the first batch of national agricultural product quality and safety counties and a national agricultural product processing demonstration base. The district has attained an overall pass rate of 100% in routine quality and safety tests of agricultural products.

Shaoshan City has won titles such as a national model unit for afforestation, a national rural sewage treatment demonstration city, a national rural household garbage classification and resource utilization demonstration county, and a national-level export food and agricultural product quality and safety demonstration zone.
