The 33rd National Energy Efficiency Promotion Week runs from July 10 to 16, 2023. Local authorities across the country are holding energy-saving promotion activities according to the unified deployment. On July 10, the 2023 Hunan Energy Efficiency Promotion Week was launched at the China Ceramic Valley International Convention and Exhibition Center in Liling City.

The Hunan Energy Efficiency Promotion Week is hosted by the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the People's Government of Zhuzhou City. It will focus on activities such as energy conservation and carbon emission reduction in key industries, Hunan Low Carbon Day, green and low-carbon lifestyle, and energy conservation promotion week in schools and households.

Liling's key projects of energy conservation and carbon emission reduction in the ceramics industry are being showcased on-site. The comprehensive energy consumption of the entire ceramics industry in Liling has been reduced by more than 15%, and the energy-saving level of the ceramics industry ranks among the top in the country. Huaxin Insulator and Top Collection Industrial Co., Ltd., have been recognized as national-level green factories. Over 70% of tasks within ceramics enterprises across the city have been automated and are now managed through intelligent sysems.

Shi Chaogang, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, stated that since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), significant progress has been made in the green transformation of energy, industry, transportation, and urban-rural construction in the province. The efforts in energy conservation, carbon emission reduction, and energy efficiency improvement have yielded remarkable results. In the energy sector, the share of non-fossil energy consumption reached 23.5% in 2022, and the new energy installed capacity accounted for 60.3% of the province's total newly added installed capacity. Hunan fueled an average annual economic growth of 6.1% with an average annual energy consumption growth of 2.3%.

In the industrial sector, a total of 261 national and provincial-level green factories and 34 green parks have been established. In the transportation sector, Changsha and Zhuzhou have been approved as national demonstration cities for green travel. The proportion of new energy vehicles in urban public transportation and taxi services (including online ride-hailing services) in the province is 96% and 57% respectively, surpassing the national target. In the urban-rural construction sector, Hunan was approved as the only national pilot province for green construction in 2022 and central China's only pilot province for green building materials promotion in rural areas. The average proportion of green buildings in newly constructed urban buildings in the province has reached 86.7%.
