Contestants’ opening show
European contestants advanced to the next round.
The second round of the preliminary contest of the 14th "Chinese Bridge" — Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students was held at Hunan Mass Media Vocational Technical College on the afternoon of July 7. Thirty-eight European contestants brought a Chinese language feast to the audience through passionate speeches and brilliant talent shows.
After the speech, eight potential candidates staged a 30-second talent show. Yang Fan from Britain known as “Violin Prince” played the Chinese folk song “Red Flowers Blooming All over the Mountain”; Ou’yang Lan from Belarus sang Jay Chou’s “Silence” with beautiful and unique voice, which impressed the audience deeply; and Luo Zhengyang from Russia performed a tongue twister with amazing-fast speed.
After fierce competition, eight European contestants moved into the next round, including Xu Tianyou from Italy, Su Mo’an from Ukraine, Kang Ke from UK, Wang Baixue from UK, Luo Zhengyang from Russia, Wang Tao from Denmark, Ou’yang Lan from Belarus and Guo Chuyun from Germany.
It was learned that the last round of the preliminary contest was held on July 8. Forty-eight contestants from Asia and Oceania competed for the last 10 positions for the top 30.
