On December 31, 2014, the first Hunan High Value Eco-agricultural Industry Expo opened at Changsha Red Star International Exhibition Center. The expo will last till January 2, 2015. At the expo, hundreds of enterprises from Hunan Province exhibited over 2,000 eco-agricultural products. Xu Minghua, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Tang Zhixiang, former provincial leader, attended the opening ceremony.

Featured eco-agricultural products such as organic rice, high-grade edible Maitake mushrooms, ecological edible wild herbs, Ningxiang spotted pigs, Xiangxi black pigs and Huitang ducks are very popular with the public.

Wu Jinshui, an expert from the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that Hunan’s agricultural products should focus on ecology to meet the public’s demand of healthy consumption and gain ideal profits.
