Hunan’s Anti-pandemic Medical Expert Team returned to Changsha by CZ6935 flight on June 22, after completing their medical aid tasks in Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea and a 14-day quarantine in Sanya. A welcome ceremony was held at the Changsha Huanghua International Airport. Wu Guiying, vice governor of Hunan, addressed the ceremony.

Wu, on behalf of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, expressed lofty respect and sincere greetings to the medical experts. She noted that, the experts represented good medical ethics and skills of Chinese medical personnel. They have implemented President Xi Jinping’s call for building a global community of health for all, and well demonstrated their determination to sand firm with the African people to defeat COVID-19 with solidarity and cooperation. Their selfless dedication will be remembered by African people, and will lay a solid foundation for Hunan-Africa cooperation in the future. She asked the experts to take a good rest and summarize their anti-pandemic experiences, so as to make use of these experiences to safeguard people’s life and health. 

The expert group to Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea was set up by the National Health Commission and selected by the Health Commission of Hunan Province, with a total of 12 members led by Zhu Yimin, deputy director of the provincial health commission. The 12 experts are from respiratory departments, infectious disease departments, and the fields of intensive medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, infection control, public health and nursing.
 
During the past month, the experts share Chinese, and Hunan’s, experiences with the Zimbabwe’s inter-ministerial action team and the Equatorial Guinea’s COVID-19 responding and monitoring technical committee, and visited local medical and testing institutions, as well as regional and village medical care departments. They delivered a professional proposal on COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control to the two countries.
