South Africa is located at the southernmost tip of the African continent, covering a land area of 1.2191 million square kilometers, with a population of 62 million. It is the most developed economy in Africa and China's largest trading partner on the continent. Gauteng Province, situated in the northeast part of South Africa, is the smallest but most densely populated province in the country. It serves as a commercial, financial, and industrial hub of South Africa, with its capital Johannesburg as the largest city in the country.

Governor Mao and Premier Andrek Panyaza Lesufi ink an agreement on establishing friendship province relationship.
Premier Andrek Panyaza Lesufi stated that both Gauteng and Hunan are pivotal provinces in their respective nations. He expressed confidence that the establishment of a friendship province relationship will further elevate the profound bond and mutually beneficial cooperation between South Africa and China to new a height. He hopes to strengthen bilateral collaboration in multiple areas including engineering machinery, transportation infrastructure, agricultural modernization, energy and power, cultural exchanges, and public security, leveraging complementary advantages to yield fruitful outcomes.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the partnership was signed during the meeting. According to the MoU, the two provinces will cooperate in the sectors of the economy, tourism, security, education, and agriculture.
