Hunan to Hold Series Activities for 2023 Hunan Ecotourism Festival

On February 16, the Hunan Provincial Forestry Department announced the arrangement of a series of activities for the 2023 Hunan Ecotourism Festival, with 16 festivals and cultural tourism activities to be held throughout the year. It aims to enable tourists to experience the diversity and beauty of Hunan's ecotourism resources while enjoying flowers and leaves and making immersive sightseeing tours.

The 16 festivals and activities share the common theme of "come together in nature to admire blooming flowers and have fun and recreation".

The festivals include:
-- a cherry blossom festival to be held in the Hunan Botanical Garden in mid-March;
-- a pear blossom festival to be held in Jingzhou National Forest Park in late March;
-- a peach blossom festival to be held in the Taohuayuan National Scenic Area in late April;
-- an alpine azalea festival to be held in Yangming Mountain National Forest Park on April 28;
-- an azalea festival to be held in Dawei Mountain National Forest Park in early May;
-- the Jiuxian Lake Tung Oil Tree Blossom Festival to be held in Youzhou National Forest Park in early May;
-- the Buckwheat Blossom Festival to be held in the Fenghuang National Scenic Area in early June; and,
-- the Yuelu Mountain Red Maple Festival to be held in the Yuelu Mountain National Scenic Area on November 18.

The activities include:
-- the Aizhai Wonder Bicycle Open to be held in Dehang National Scenic Area in early March;
-- the Nanxian County Wetland Cycling Challenge to be held in Nanzhou National Wetland Park in late April;
-- the Cyclocarya Paliurus (Money Willow) Festival to be held in Huangsang National Nature Reserve in mid-May;
-- the Summer Resort Tourism Festival to be held in Weishan National Scenic Area in mid-July;
-- the Lianyuan Longshan Ecological and Cultural Festival to be held in One-Hundred-Mile Longshan National Forest Park in early August;
-- the Farming and Folk Customs Festival to be held in Zhang Guying Provincial Scenic Area in early August;
-- the One-Hundred-Mile Danxia Hiking in Feitian Mountain National Geopark in early October; and,
-- the Ice and Snow Tourism Festival to be held in Ziquejie-Meishan Karst Cave National Scenic Area in late December.
