Secretary Shen, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, welcomed the guests and briefed them on the general situation of Hunan Province. He mentioned that Hunan has placed great importance on its traditional friendship with Zimbabwe. In recent years, both sides have achieved fruitful cooperation results in economy and trade, medical and health care, and people-to-people exchanges. Hunan will earnestly implement the important common understandings reached by President Xi Jinping and Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa. He expected both sides would further strengthen communication and collaboration in such fields as infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing, new energy, big health, education, and tourism.
President Mnangagwa thanked Hunan for its warm reception and congratulated China and Hunan on their great achievements in economic and social development under the leadership of the CPC and President Xi Jinping. He remarked that he was glad to visit Hunan, the hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong, and was deeply impressed by Hunan's development in science and technology innovation and advanced manufacturing. He added that Zimbabwe was willing to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with Hunan and welcome more Hunan enterprises to invest and thrive in Zimbabwe, thereby achieving mutual benefits and win-win results.
President Mnangagwa and his entourage visited Xiangtan and Changsha. In Shaoshan, he presented a flower basket to the bronze statue of comrade Mao Zedong, and visited the Mao Zedong Memorial Museum and the Former Residence of Mao Zedong. The president learned in detail about corporate intelligent manufacturing and new energy technology development when visiting the No. 18 Factory of the Sany Group. The guests also came to Lutang Village, Yong'an Town, Liuyang City, inspecting the new countryside construction.
Frederick Shava, Zimbabwe's minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade; Mthuli Ncube, Zimbabwe's minister of Finance; Virginia Mabhiza, Zimbabwe's minister of Justice; and, Abigail Shonhiwa, Zimbabwean ambassador to China joined the delegation. Hunan provincial leaders Qin Guowen and Jiang Difei, and Zhou Ding, Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe, attended.
