Hunan to Boost Targeted Cooperation with Great Bay Area

The 2019 Hunan-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Investment and Trade Conference will be held in Hong Kong, Macao, and Shenzhen between April 15 and 19. It aims to promote Hunan’s coordination with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development strategy, and enhance cooperation with the area. The Hunan Provincial People’s Government held a press conference on April 3, and the Hunan Department of Commerce publicized related information. 

“The conference is Hunan’s first important economic and trade event to promote cooperation with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area, after the development strategy of the area became a national one,” said Luo Shuangfeng, deputy director of the Hunan Department of Commerce. It is hosted by the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, Hunan Department of Commerce, Hunan Science and Technology Department, and Hunan Human Resources and Social Security Department. “1+15+18” activities are planned, including a forum for Hunan-Great Bay Area cooperation & project signing ceremony; 15 themed activities organized by Hunan’s various departments; and, 18 business talks of Hunan’s cities and prefecture. 

It will be an innovative, targeted, substantial, effective, and economical conference. Focus will be put on both “bring in” and “go global”, to promote investment and trade; and, gain new results in sci-tech education, cultural tourism, financial service, talent and capital attraction, and trade cooperation. 

“Targeted” is a distinctive feature of the conference, from the aspects of activity planning and organization. The Hong Kong venue highlights modern service, sci-tech cooperation, intelligent manufacturing, human resource, and financial matchmaking; the Macao venue highlights economic and trade cooperation with the Portuguese language speaking countries; and, the Shenzhen venue highlights advanced manufacturing, cross-border e-commerce, processing trade, parallel imports of automobiles, and undertaking industrial relocation. Beyond that, different themed activities in different fields and forms will be organized in other regions of the Great Bay Area, in a bid to facilitate in-depth cooperation.
