Du Jiahao, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee secretary and Hunan Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee director, met with guests attending the first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) in Changsha on June 27, 2019. They were international organization representatives such as Li Yong, director general of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Yonov Frederick Agah, deputy director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Rahamtalla Mohamed Osman Elnorof, African Union (AU) representative to China, and the person in charge of the United Nations (UN) Women.

 

Secretary Du thanked the international organizations for their long-term support for Hunan's development, especially for its opening up to the global partners. He said the active participation of the international organizations in CAETE, added the lustre to the expo and has promoted the deepening and expansion of China-Africa cooperation. Hunan will implement the important achievements of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on the China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) last September; take the initiative to comply with the trend of economic globalization; and, adhere to the opening up strategy. He continued, Hunan will further strengthen communication and cooperation with Africa in various fields, and work with international organizations to continuously consolidate and expand the CAETE achievements, and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results. He expected them to give full play to the advantages of multiple platforms, wide vision, broad channels, and intensive intelligence; further enhance their ties with Hunan; continue to support and publicize Hunan; and, assist Hunan in better integrating into the “Belt and Road” initiative to carry out extensive exchange and cooperation with the international friends.

 

The guests congratulated Hunan on the successful hosting of the first CAETE and highly appreciated Hunan's long-term efforts in promoting China-Africa cooperation and the selfless assistance to African countries in agriculture, medical care and education. They believed CAETE will be an opportunity for international organizations to play their parts in promoting exchanges and cooperation between Hunan and Africa, and enhancing Hunan's opening up to the outside world.
