A series of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) promotion and exhibition activities were launched at Tank Changsha (1936) on December 6, as part of the province's initiative to promote ICH in six fields, namely, government institutions, enterprises, communities, rural areas, campuses, and scenic spots.

Organized by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the activities feature four main sections: traditional craftsmanship, youth innovation, culinary heritage, and health preservation. Through diverse formats such as exhibitions, performances, experiences and cross-border collaborations, the activities aim to create a youth space that's worth exploring, playing, and experiencing, allowing residents and visitors to savor the unique charm of Hunan's ICH firsthand.

At the venue, a flower-selling NPC (Non-Player Character), dressed in traditional attire and walking on stilts, strolled through the market, instantly creating an ancient ambiance. A lively rod puppet performance brought Hunan folk stories to life. The Tujia ethnic rock band "Zhuang Ke" delivered an electrifying and trendy audiovisual feast.

In the ICH art workshop, children crafted bamboo-woven pony bookmarks, while the documentary on the Mosuo people "Born in a Matrilineal Society" showcased the cultural roots behind intangible heritage. An Afrobeat DJ collaborated with Xiangxi Miao dancers, creating a cross-cultural fusion. ICH is fostering deep appreciation and lasting enthusiasm among the younger generation through immersive, youth-oriented expressions.

The activities include concentrated displays of over 20 representative ICH projects, including Hunan embroidery, Liling underglaze five-colored porcelain firing techniques, Tantou woodblock New Year paintings, and puppet shows. More than 10 innovative cultural and creative brands gather together, bringing traditional craftsmanship to life.

The series of ICH promotion and exhibition activities will run for six days. On December 8 and 9, themed ICH activities will be held at Hunan Normal University, including an ICH folk art market, a forum on technology and ICH, and a lecture on shadow puppetry. On December 10, an ICH market and a health preservation workshop will take place at the Hunan Federation of Trade Unions. On December 11, a community art and culture gala and puppet shows will be launched at Xianling Community, Dongjing Neighborhood, Yuhua District, Changsha.
