The "Colors of Autumn" Exhibition opened at the Hunan Botanical Garden on September 24, as part of the 2025 Hunan World Famous Flowers Eco-Cultural Festival. The exhibition highlights sunflowers, sweet-scented osmanthus flowers, and red maples. Currently, over 70,000 sunflower plants here are in full bloom, and visitors can make reservations to view the flowers free of charge.

Nine sunflower varieties are on display, including several rare ones recognized as global "star cultivars". Unlike typical sunflower fields, this exhibition features shorter, denser varieties that create a perfect backdrop for family photos.

To enhance the educational value of the exhibition, the Hunan Botanical Garden has launched a sunflower-themed science popularization course. Based on primary school curricula related to sunflowers, the course integrates scientific principles with artistic and cultural elements, helping children learn plant knowledge while admiring the flowers.

"Various osmanthus species are expected to bloom in October, greeting their best viewing period," said a spokesperson for the botanical garden. The "Colors of Autumn" Exhibition also includes a display of colorful foliage plants. Over 150 species of plants with colorful leaves—including ginkgo, red maple, and Japanese maple—will form a colorful forest spanning more than 800 mu (about 53 hectares). From November to December, these trees will change color, creating a breathtaking landscape of autumn hues.
