On April 28, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced a list of major cultural tourism activities for the upcoming May Day holiday from May 1 to 5. Let's take a look at these events. 

Duration: 10:30, 11:30, 14:00, and 15:00 from May 1 to 5
Venue: Changsha Museum
Activity: Stage play "Seeking Changsha," highlighting the bronze culture of the Shang and Zhou dynasties, the Chu culture of Hunan, the Changsha Kingdom in the Han Dynasty, and the Changsha Kiln in the Tang Dynasty.

Time: on the evenings of May 2 and May 3
Venue: Liuyang Sky Theater, Changsha
Activities: large-scale immersive fireworks shows

Time: 8:00 PM from May 1 to May 4
Venue: Tongxi Lake in the Dawangshan Tourist Resor, Changsha
Activity: The 2025 Changsha Dawangshan Starlight Fireworks Season

Duration: 9:00-20:00 from May 1 to 5
Venue: Tongguan Kiln Ancient Town China-chic Paradise, Changsha
Activities: the sixth China-chic Fireworks Festival, including a drone light show; a wooden-bench dragon dance; a dazzling display of molten iron fireworks; a parade in traditional Chinese costume; and, a myth-themed bazaar.

Duration: May 1 – 3
Venue: Liling City, Zhuzhou
Activities: the third Liling Fried Rice Noodle Festival, including a gourmet fair, free tasting of fried rice noodles, and free entrance to all tourist sites across the city.

Duration: May 1 – June 2
Venue: Dongzhou Isle Scenic Area, Hengyang
Activities: a youth street art festival, including immersive adventure challenges, a joyful parade, and Super Wings meet & greet.

Duration: April 30 – May 1
Venue: Suining County, Shaoyang
Activities: the 2025 Suining Miao Siyueba Girls' Festival, including a running race, a cultural tourism promotion conference, a lecture on ethnicity, folk performances, a rural food festival, and a themed evening gala.

Duration: May Day holiday
Venue: Qianzhou Ancient Town, Xiangxi
Activities: intangible cultural heritage performances, a lantern festival, a traditional clothing fashion show, a mystery adventure experience, and an intangible cultural heritage fair.

Duration: May Day holiday
Venue: Laosicheng Tusi Camp Tourist Resort, Xiangxi
