Hunan-Africa Trade Volume Leads Central, Western China for Seven Consecutive Years

A press conference on Hunan's foreign trade in 2025 was held on January 21, 2026. It announced that in 2025, Hunan Province continued to advance market diversification, with its trade network extending to nearly every corner of the globe, achieving growth in imports and exports with 118 countries and regions.

Hunan's foreign trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) reached 320.08 billion CNY, accounting for 59.1% of the province's total import and export value—a 2.5 percentage point increase compared to 2024.

The province's imports from and exports to emerging markets such as ASEAN, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East grew 2.8%, 6.6%, 5.8%, and 2.4% year on year to 101.27 billion CNY, 65.82 billion CNY, 58 billion CNY, and 33.3 billion CNY, respectively. Collectively, these markets contributed to a 2-percentage-point increase in the province's overall import and export growth.

Hunan's trade with African countries reached 58 billion CNY, setting a new record high. Hunan has topped the central and western regions of China in trade with African nations for seven consecutive years, boasting an annual trade volume exceeding 50 billion CNY for four consecutive years.
