At around 10:00 am on November 14, the reporter opened the "Xingcheng Yunba" mini-program on his smartphone at the Overseas Returnee Town Station in Wangcheng District. After inputting his destination, selecting the number of passengers, confirming the trip, and completing payment, a bus-ride "order" was successfully placed. After three minutes, a mini-bus marked with the "Xingcheng Yunba" logo arrived at the station. After verifying the last four digits of his phone number with the driver, the reporter could sit back and wait to reach his destination.
"Waiting for buses and dealing with detours used to be the most frustrating part. Sometimes, missing one bus could mean a 30-minute wait," said a passenger surnamed Zhao. He praised this online bus-hailing service for its Didi-like speed and convenience, noting the mere 2-yuan fare is quite cost-effective.
The initial operational area for the WY1 Line covers a 13-sq-km area that connects key locations including Daze Lake, Overseas Returnee Town, and the Binshui New Town Branch of the Fourth Hospital of Changsha, forming an efficient and convenient micro-circulation bus network.
Unlike traditional buses operating on fixed routes and schedules, the "Xingcheng Yunba" buses can intelligently adjust routes based on real-time passenger demand, enabling "on-demand dispatching" and "dynamic response." The company offers targeted services such as "point-to-point non-stop rides" and "faster arrivals with fewer stops", effectively solving issues of low occupancy rates and prolonged waiting times faced by conventional buses during off-peak hours or in less crowded areas.
To date, 10 new energy buses have been put into operation in the Yueliang Isle area in Wangcheng District. The buses operate from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm, with over 200 virtual stops. In the first six days of operation, the total passenger volume reached 1,761 trips. In the future, the operator will continuously optimize services based on actual operations to better meet residents' travel needs.
