A cargo ship carrying 185 components of gantry crane, totaling 820.098 tonnes and valued at 17.69 million CNY, departed from the Chenglingji New Port and directly set sail for Vladivostok, Russia on October 26. This marked the port's first bulk cargo export since the launch of an international direct shipping route linking Yueyang's Chenglingji and Russia's Vladivostok. The new service helped reduce costs by 35% and cut travel time by 15 days compared to traditional coastal transshipment modes. It signifies that Hunan, known as the "Capital of Construction Machinery," has officially opened a golden channel directly connecting with international markets.

To ensure the smooth export of the first shipment, the Port Office of the Yueyang Municipal People's Government took the lead in coordinating efforts, with full support from the Yueyang Municipal Transportation Bureau, the Yueyang Customs Authority, the Yueyang Maritime Safety Administration, and the Changsha Station of Immigration Inspection. The original Container Berth No. 6 was upgraded into a "multi-purpose berth for opening up," a "green channel" for bulk cargo exports was established, and comprehensive operational guidance ranging from cargo declaration to loading and departure was provided. These efforts helped cut logistics costs and shorten travel time. Instead of container shipping, a new bulk shipping method has been created for exporting large-scale machinery and equipment.

With the largest market scale in construction machinery industry nationwide, Hunan exports seven out of every ten concrete machinery units. However, for a long time, Chenglingji Port primarily handled container shipments and lacked facilities for bulk cargo export. This limitation forced local enterprises to seek more distant ports. This breakthrough not only creates a new channel for Hunan's manufacturing sector but also propels Chenglingji Port's functional upgrade from "container-oriented" to "container + bulk cargo." The port has significantly enhanced its comprehensive logistics service and expanded its cargo sources, positioning itself as "a core river-sea logistics hub" in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.

During the first three quarters of this year, Chenglingji Port operated 856 cargo ship trips to destinations including Waigaoqiao Port, Yangshan Port, ASEAN countries, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, including nine direct ship trips to Russia. The port handled a container throughput of 506,511 containers (including 144,637 for foreign trade) and a total cargo volume of 15.3132 million tonnes for imports and exports, representing a year-on-year increase of 19.79%.
