The Xingsha Customs Authority announced on October 14 that Changsha handled 363 inbound and outbound China-Europe freight trains in the third quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 111%. A total of 29,828 containers of goods worth 4.801 billion CNY were transported, up 111.5% and 14.9% respectively. Transport efficiency has further improved.
Changsha has handled more than 1,000 China-Europe freight trains annually in the last four years, with the scale standing at the national forefront for six consecutive years. The city has operated more than 6,000 China-Europe freight trains since the freight train service was launched in October 2014. In February this year, the Central South China International Land Port was approved as a national China-Europe freight train assembly center. Currently, an average of two trains loaded with "Made-in-Hunan" goods depart from Changsha every day, heading to global markets.
"Stable rail logistics have broadened the channels for enterprises going global," said Cao Zhijuan, manager at the Sinotrans Hunan Customs Broker Co., Ltd. She noted that her company currently serves nearly 400 manufacturers shipping goods via the China-Europe freight train service, with exported products covering more than 30 categories, including automobiles, construction machinery, clothing, and household appliances.
Currently, Changsha operates 12 regular high-quality China-Europe freight train routes, reaching nearly 100 cities in nearly 30 Asian and European countries and regions. Nearly 50% of the exported cargo—including daily necessities and consumer electronics—adopts LCL (Less than Container Load) shipping, making diversified consolidated shipments from small and medium-sized enterprises a routine practice.
