Fifty-five cases of large-size sludge drying equipment independently developed by an environmental protection technology company in Xupu County, Huaihua, were delivered to Indonesia recently. Valued at four million USD, the equipment was an important part of a 10.2-million-USD order of environmental protection equipment reached between the company and Indonesia.

"We aim to bring the Xupu-made advanced environmental protection equipment to more countries," said a spokesperson of the company. This order is one of Xupu's key foreign trade projects this year. The sludge drying system adopts independently-developed technologies, and has obtained international certification. Being energy-efficient and highly productive, the system has been sought-after in the Southeastern Asian market.

This offers a glimpse into Huaihua's export achievements. Latest statistics from the Huaihua Customs Authority showed that, Huaihua's total foreign trade import and export value during the January-August period reached 8.5 billion CNY, marking a year-on-year increase of 2.5% and setting a new record for the same period in history. Exports accounted for 7.33 billion CNY, up 3.3%, while imports totaling 1.17 billion CNY.

Huaihua's foreign trade had three features in the first eight months, said Wang Youhua, director of the Huaihua Customs Authority. First, the trade structure continued to optimize, with general trade accounting for over 80% of the total. Second, private enterprises played a prominent role, contributing 94.3% of the total import and export value. Third, significant gains have been made in exploring emerging markets, as trade with ASEAN and Africa increased by 21.8% and 117.8% respectively.

Data shows that from January to August, Huaihua's import and export product structure showed a "two increases and one decrease" pattern. Imports of tropical fruits, rubber, and other specialty products from Southeast Asia saw significant growth, with fruit imports surging by 387%. Mechanical and electrical products and labor-intensive products dominated the exports, while the "new three" products—electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products—made remarkable performance, surging 180.7%, 54.8%, and 168.9% respectively.
