Hunan exported 2.15 billion of lighters worth 1.36 billion CNY in the first seven months of this year, year-on-year increases of 28.8% and 29.9% respectively. The export volume and value accounted for 52.8% and 51% of the national lighter exports during the same period, respectively. Since this March, the volume and value of lighter exports from Hunan Province have continued to grow, the Changsha Customs Authority announced on August 14, 2025.
During the January-July period, three cities of Hunan Province—Shaoyang, Yongzhou, and Changsha cities exported lighters. Shaoyang's exports of lighters increased 34.2% to 1.3 billion CNY, accounting for 95.9% of the provincial total lighter exports during the same period and driving overall growth by 31.8 percentage points. Yongzhou and Changsha exported 54.914 million CNY and 1.07 million CNY of lighters, respectively.
Asia was the major market. In the first seven months, Hunan's exports of lighters to other Asian countries and regions reached 620 million CNY, representing a 32.8% increase. The exports to Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, and Iraq amounted to 150 million CNY, 90 million CNY, 80 million CNY, and 50 million CNY, respectively, up 5.1%, 3.9%, 123.3%, and 23.1%.
So far this year, Africa has become the fastest-growing regional market for Hunan's lighter exports. In the first seven months, exports to Africa grew 67.2% to 430 million CNY. The exports to Nigeria totaled 150 million CNY, up 50.6%; while those to Libya, Tanzania, Côte d'Ivoire, and South Africa all exceeded 30 million CNY, with respective growth rates of 31.1%, 218.5%, 150%, and 121.8%.
