Wei and Jin Dynasties' Pictorial Bricks from Gansu on Display in Changsha

An exhibition titled "Frontier Winds, Evergreen Willows -- Special Exhibition of Wei and Jin Dynasties' Pictorial Bricks from Gansu Province" opened at the Changsha Museum recently. The exhibition was hosted by the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, and Television, and co-organized by the Changsha Museum, Gansu Provincial Museum, Lanzhou Museum, Wuwei Museum, Zhangye Museum, Jiuquan Museum, Gaotai County Museum, Suzhou District Museum of Jiuquan, Shandan County Museum, Minle County Museum, and Sunan Yugur Autonomous County National Museum.

The exhibition features a selection of 164 sets of Wei and Jin dynasties' pictorial bricks and related artifacts from multiple museums in Gansu Province, including 65 pictorial bricks. These artifacts vividly depict the daily life of ancient Chinese, from traveling and feasting to farming, dressing, and entertainment. They also reveal the development of agriculture and animal husbandry in the Hexi Corridor of northwestern China, as well as cultural exchanges and mutual learning among diverse cultures. Additionally, the exhibition highlights the connection between Zuo Zongtang, a famous Qing dynasty general from Hunan, and the Gansu region. It focuses on the theme of people's peaceful and prosperous lives.

Opening hours: 9:00-17:00; closed on Monday (except statuary holidays)
Note: The Changsha Museum will extend its opening hours to 20:30 from August 1 to August 31, 2025.


How to visit:
Visitors are required to complete real-name registration and make a reservation via the museum's official WeChat account. After reservation, visitors may enter the museum during their reserved time slot by presenting their reservation QR codes or ID cards and completing security checks.
