The 2025 Hunan Botanical Garden "Love of Summer" Flower Exhibition kicked off recently, with more than 30,000 hydrangeas in full bloom. The exhibition features a series of science popularization activities and educational programs about plants and animals, as announced by the garden on June 28.
The Hunan Botanical Garden regularly hosts seasonal flower exhibitions to showcase plant diversity. Currently, the garden is in its prime viewing season, with expansive fields of hydrangeas forming a floral sea. Roses, Chinese roses, cosmos bipinnatus, cosmos sulphureus, water lilies, cannas, and lotuses are also in full bloom.

The Hunan Botanical Garden has cultivated over 30,000 hydrangeas across 10,000 square meters, successfully breeding more than 20 varieties. The star cultivars include the red-blue 'Endless Summer', blue-white 'Bigleaf Hydrangea', purple-red 'Classic Red', purple or pink 'Opal', tri-color 'Ayesha' in blue, pink, and purple, and pure blue 'Bodensee' - all featuring exceptionally large and vibrant flower heads.
"Every casual snapshot will be a sensation on social media," said a spokesperson for the garden. With more than 90 varieties of blooming roses and extensive fields of cosmos flowers, the "Love of Summer" floral exhibition has the most diverse range of colors among all seasonal flower shows at the garden.
