Luo Yijun, secretary of the CPC Changde Municipal Committee, met in Changde with Maubere Lorosae da Silva Horta, ambassador of Timor-Leste to China, on June 27.
Xu Zhengxian, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Fu Yong, member of the Standing Committee and secretary general of the CPC Changde Municipal Committee, also attended the meeting.
Secretary Luo welcomed Maubere Lorosae da Silva Horta and his delegation. Luo mentioned that, as the building of a community with a shared future between China and Timor-Leste has been progressing in recent years, the exchanges and cooperation between Hunan and Timor-Leste are flourishing and deepening.
Secretary Luo added that, Changde is a crucial city in central China and a nationally significant agricultural production base, with its total output of grain, cotton, oil crops, fruits, hogs, poultry, and aquatic products ranking among the highest in the province. Changde's grain cultivation area and output have maintained top ranking in the province for 21 consecutive years. Luo said that Timor-Leste boasts superior geographical location, abundant energy and mineral resources, and tremendous development potential, highlighting high complementarity with Changde's industrial structure and providing a solid foundation for cooperation.
Secretary Luo expressed sincere hopes that this visit will serve as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Changde and Timor-Leste in multiple areas such as agricultural production, mineral development, healthcare, education, and culture, aiming to yield more substantive results.
Maubere Lorosae da Silva Horta remarked that this is his fourth visit to Hunan, with new gains and feelings received during each of his visits. In the fields of agricultural production and food security, Hunan has a wealth of experience. Timor-Leste will actively participate in joint implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, expanding cooperation with Hunan in such areas as agricultural production, food security, and healthcare. Maubere Lorosae da Silva Horta invited more Changde enterprises to invest and start businesses in Timor-Leste, working together to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Timor-Leste.
