Mangshan Mountain Scenic Area in Chenzhou City was shortlisted as a typical case of accessible tourism.
Located at the northern foot of the Nanling Mountains and at the junction of Hunan and Guangdong provinces, the Wuzhifeng Scenic Area of Mangshan Mountain in Yizhang County is the most well-preserved primeval forest area among other places at the same latitude. It is recognized as a gene bank of animals and plants in southern China, and the world's first barrier-free mountain scenic area. It is also known as "a mountain that does not need to be climbed on feet" because of the availability of barrier-free facilities.
The barrier-free sightseeing system of Wuzhifeng Scenic Area is composed of high-altitude cableway, walking path, escalator system, lift system, auxiliary facilities system, barrier-free transfer system, and sign and guidance system. The whole scenic area is equipped with complete facilities, providing barrier-free visit for people with reduced mobility. Since the operation of the barrier-free tour system, the Wuzhifeng Scenic Area has received a total of 10,017 visits by people with disabilities, and 257,448 visits by people aged over 60 years old.
