Zhang Boheng Wins Changsha's First Gold at Chengdu Universiade

Chengdu Universiade's first gold medal in artistic gymnastics was awarded on August 2. China clinched artistic gymnastics men's team title with 262.594 points, while Japan took silver and South Korea claimed bronze. Changsha-born athlete Zhang Boheng, a member of the Chinese team, gave an outstanding performance. This is the second gold medal of Hunan and the first of Changsha.

The Chinese men's team is full of stars, comprising Zhang Boheng, Zou Jingyuan, Su Weide, Lan Xingyu, and Shi Cong. Most of them had previously won titles at the Olympics or the world gymnastics championships. The Japanese men's team also has a great line-up led by Japan's Daiki Hashimoto. Zhang and Hashimoto, the two artistic gymnastics world champions met again in the men's team final at the Chengdu Universiade. The contest between the two star gymnasts attracted a lot of attention.

Zhang, who was born in Changsha, Hunan province, is currently studying at Hunan Normal University. He will compete in the men's individual all-around final and other individual event finals on August 4 and 5.
