Governor Mao welcomed the guests and highlighted Hunan's energy, water conservancy, and urbanization construction. He noted that in recent years, Hunan has set the goals for the "Three Hubs and Four New Missions" blueprint drawn by President Xi Jinping, and pushed forward the "Three Major Supports and Eight Key Points" work with all-out efforts. The province has strived to strengthen energy system construction with electricity as the main focus, to comprehensively enhance the capacity of energy supply. Hunan's installed capacity of power generation reached 58.41 million kilowatts, which had successfully responded to the first peak load of 41.65 million kilowatts this summer.
Hunan has coordinated the treatment of water disasters, water resources, water ecology, and water environment management. It has carried out major water conservancy infrastructure construction; optimized water resources allocation; restored river and lake ecosystems; and, formed a modern water network pattern. Meanwhile, Hunan has stepped up urban development. The urbanization rate of the provincial permanent urban residents will reach about 63% by 2025.
POWERCHINA and Hunan have always been like one big family, with a close and harmonious relationship, Mao said, adding that both sides have implemented pragmatic cooperation in water conservancy development, electric power supply security, and urban development and construction, sharing profound foundation and broad prospect in collaboration. He expected POWERCHINA to further increase investment in Hunan; accelerate the construction of major projects; and deepen the cooperation in peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality and new energy system construction. Hunan will continue to optimize the world-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized, to fully support POWERCHINA's expansion in Hunan, he added.
Chairman Ding thanked Hunan for its long-term support to POWERCHINA. He remarked that POWERCHINA will give full play to its own advantages; increase its investment layout in Hunan; enhance partnership with Hunan in such fields as clean energy, water conservancy, water affairs, water resources and environmental governance, and major infrastructure to achieve win-win results.
