A VJ7866 plane operated by the Vietjet Air of Vietnam arrived at the Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport at 9:25 pm on April 7, 2023, marking the Zhangjiajie-Hanoi air route was officially resumed. This was the first international air route that Zhangjiajie airport had resumed after the three-year-long academic period.
Since China's downgrading of the COVID-19 management, Zhangjiajie has taken all-out efforts to boost resumption of international flights. All related departments, including ports, airports, customs, and border control authorities worked together to make full preparations for international flight resumption. On the afternoon of April 8, 177 Vietnamese passengers arrived in Zhangjiajie by a QW6172 plane operated by the Qingdao Airlines, marking the opening of the second air route linking the Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport to Hanoi of Vietnam.
The Vietjet Air operates the Zhangjiajie-Hanoi flights on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and, the Qingdao Airlines operates its Zhangjiajie-Hanoi flights on every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
The first Zhangjiajie-Hanoi air route was opened in 2019, and suspended due to the epidemic. The resumption of the route would provide more convenient and economical options for both Chinese and Vietnamese passengers, and facilitate Zhangjiajie's progress in building an international tourism city.
The two existing flight routes mainly serve inbound passengers, which would bring nearly 100,000 international passenger trips to the Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport annually. The next step will be to resume the flights from Zhangjiajie to Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam, Bangkok of Thailand, and Seoul of South Korea.
