Governor Mao Urges to Meet People's Needs for Anti-epidemic Medicines

Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, visited some pharmaceutical production enterprises in Liuyang City on the morning of December 27, 2022. He came to inspect production and supply of key epidemic prevention medicines and materials.

He asked to implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speech on epidemic prevention and control; put the people and their lives first; carry out production at full capacity; and, improve the production and supply capacity of pharmaceutical supplies, to safeguard the bottom line of medicine quality and safety, and better meet the basic medication needs of the public.

He remarked that it is critical to ensure major anti-epidemic materials production and supply, as the country's COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control faces new situations and new tasks. Efforts should be made in the following aspects:

-  Pharmaceutical production enterprises should be ready to fulfill its responsibilities;

- Giving full play to the role of the provincial special team for medical supplies;

- Strengthening analysis and judgment of the epidemic prevention and control situation; and,

- Increasing support and guarantee of primary medical institutions and nursing homes, especially those in rural areas.

We should ensure stable supplies and prices of medicines and materials at present, especially for the upcoming New Year's Day, and during the Spring Festival period, he added.
