The 6th Session of the Leading Group of Hunan Advancing "Belt and Road" Initiative and International Cooperation on Production Capacity was held on June 10. It was learned that Hunan Province has actively promoted the "Belt and Road" Initiative and international production capacity cooperation and development, and achieved remarkable results. Hunan has established economic and trade relations with 227 countries and regions. In 2021, the province's total import and export volume reached nearly 600 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2 times over the beginning of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020).
At present, Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group's EPC project of camaranigan cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines is under construction. Major projects have been launched, including a surface water-treatment plant in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, and a tire plant in Pakistan. Projects such as the "Two Industrial Parks and One Road" in Laos, a metal materials industrial park in Cambodia, Hunan industrial park in Nigeria, and a rubber factory in Côte d'Ivoire are progressing steadily.
In 2021, Hunan invested 378 million USD in countries along the "Belt and Road". Hunan Construction Engineering Group and Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group were once again included in the top 250 "ENR International Contractors". China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation Hunan Branch has provided insurance for Hunan’s 14 key projects in Belt and Road countries.
Opening-up platforms and channels have continued to expand. In 2021, Hunan handled 1,072 China-Europe freight trains, with the value of goods reaching three billion USD.
The figures increased 13.5 times and 5 times over the beginning of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020) respectively. There are 14 regular routes reaching 24 countries. The "Hunan-Guangdong-Africa Huaihua—Beibu Gulf Port" rail-sea combined transport train was put into operation. The international cargo and mail throughput of the province's airports was 93,600 tons, an increase of 24.1%. The container throughput of Chenglingji Port, Yueyang was 600,600 TEUs, an increase of 18.1%. Port customs clearance facilitation continued to improve. The overall customs clearance time for imports and exports has been reduced by 81.72% and 90.10% respectively compared with 2017. The Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone has pioneered in more than 10 reform achievements in the country, and 83.5% of the reform pilot tasks in the overall plan has been implemented.
