The Fifth Session of the 13th Hunan Provincial People's Congress opened on the morning of January 17. Mao Weiming, governor of Hunan Province, delivered a government work report. A total of 85 suggestions from netizens were adopted in the government work report. They are expected to become administration measures and plans of Hunan Province in 2022.

The suggestions were collected from the 2022 "I have golden ideas"—soliciting opinions and suggestions for the 2022 Hunan Provincial People's Government Report initiative. The initiative was launched by government websites and mainstream media across Hunan Province. From December 1, 2021 through the eve of the 2022 Hunan's "Two Sessions", netizens could share their views on Hunan’s development, and deliberate on and participate in the administration of state affairs.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the Hunan government has solicited suggestions from netizens, according to a person in charge of the 2022 Hunan Provincial People's Government Work Report drafting group. A total of 37, 49, 81 and 85 suggestions were adopted in the 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 government work reports respectively. It demonstrated that the government attaches an increasing importance to people’s opinions.

Among the 18 designated topics (including "others"), 34 suggestions on the three most-discussed topics concerning people's livelihood improvement, rural revitalization, and government governance were adopted.

"These 'golden ideas' reflect thousands of netizens’ affection for their hometowns, yearning for a better life, and wisdom from all walks of life," a person in charge of the initiative said, adding that the event is a channel connecting the government with the people. It is an information pool to gather intellectual resources, and signifies precious spiritual wealth. Every suggestion will be taken seriously."

Except for those delivered to the drafting group, some "golden ideas" will be forwarded directly to relevant departments. The drafting group revealed that suggestions that have not been adopted will be taken into consideration and planned to be handled by relevant departments, and will be carefully studied to facilitate the improvement of their work."
