The London Design Awards of the Driven X Design Awards focuses on creativity, and the possibility of prominent designs. The Zaha Hadid Architects, designer of the centre, won two gold prizes this time – the centre in public and institutional category and the Forest Green Rovers Eco Park Stadium in proposed category.

Located at the north bank of the Meixi Lake, the centre looks like a blooming hibiscus mutabilis. It incorporates a contemporary art museum and 1,800-seat theatre with supporting facilities and a multipurpose hall.

The organic architectural language is defined by pedestrian routes that weave through the site to connect with neighboring streets. Providing views of the adjacent Meixi Lake and giving access to the parks and walking trails on the lake’s Festive Island, this ensemble of three separate cultural institutions has become Hunan’s largest multi-functional cultural venue. The Changsha Metro Line 2 is accessible from the centre.
At present, there are a number of cultural and tourism landmarks and internet-famous sites in the Xiangjiang New Area, including the Meixihu International Culture and Art Centre, Xiangjiang Joy Town Amusement Park, Li Zijian Art Museum, and Xie Zilong Photography Museum.
The Meixihu International Culture and Art Centre becomes an internet-famous site.
