Changsha and 39 other cities have been designated as national sports consumption pilot cities, according to a notice issued by the General Administration of Sport of China on its official website on August 26. These cities will carry out pilot work in promoting sports consumption mechanism, policy, model and product innovation.

National sports consumption pilot cities are required to establish a strong mechanism for promoting pilot work, guarantee land use for sports facilities, improve policies and measures promoting sports consumption, explore innovative ways to supply sports products and services, improve the system for conducting statistical surveys on sports consumption data, and establish a performance evaluation system for pilot work. These will help explore more experience and make greater contributions to promoting sports consumption. The first round of pilot work will last for three years from 2020 to 2022.
