According to data from the Changsha Customs Authority, Hunan Province's trade with ASEAN countries reached 23.34 billion CNY in the first quarter, marking a 7.9% year-on-year increase. Exports totaled 14.39 billion CNY, up 12.9%, while imports stood at 8.95 billion CNY, up 0.7%.
Malaysia has become Hunan's largest trade partner among ASEAN countries. During the January-March period, total trade between Hunan and Malaysia reached 5.9 billion CNY, up 4.1%, accounting for 25.3% of the province's total foreign trade volume with ASEAN countries. Hunan's trade with Vietnam and Indonesia reached 5.6 billion CNY and 4.58 billion CNY respectively, while trade with Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore each exceeded one billion CNY.
Changsha's trade with ASEAN countries reached 12.2 billion CNY, up 25.8%, contributing more than 50% to Hunan's total trade with ASEAN countries. Trade between Yueyang City, Changde City, and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture all saw trade growth with ASEAN countries, rising 39.3%, 120%, and 110% respectively.
Hunan mainly imports from ASEAN countries the following goods, including natural and synthetic rubber, crude oil, and agricultural products. In the first quarter, imports of natural and synthetic rubber totaled 2.77 billion CNY, accounting for nearly 30% of Hunan's total imports from ASEAN countries. Imports of agricultural product surged 126.8% to 1.04 billion CNY. Exports of mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products to ASEAN countries maintained double-digit growth.
