On the morning of June 11, the opening and mobilizing ceremony for the Ningxia-Hunan ±800 kV UHV DC project and the Miluo pumped-storage hydroelectric plant were simultaneously held in Hunan Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region via video link. Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Liang Yanshun, his counterpart in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, attended. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province; Zhang Yupu, his counterpart in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region; and, Xin Bao'an, CPC Leadership Group secretary and chairman of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), addressed the ceremony.

Hunan provincial leaders Li Dianxun and Xie Weijiang; Ningxia Hui autonomous regional leaders Lei Dongsheng, Chen Chunping, and Wu Xiuzhang; and, Zhang Zhigang, SGCC CPC Leadership Group deputy secretary and general manager, were present. Yu Bing, deputy director of the National Energy Administration, delivered a speech.

On June 11, Secretary Shen Xiaoming and Governor Mao Weiming met with SGCC Chairman Xin Bao'an in Changsha.

On June 11, the opening and mobilizing ceremony for the Ningxia-Hunan ±800 kV UHV DC project and the Miluo pumped-storage hydroelectric plant were simultaneously held in Hunan Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region via video link.

The Ningxia-Hunan UHV DC transmission project is a major part of the trans-provincial power transmission channels construction, which was included in the national "14th Five-Year Plan" power development plan. It is also the first UHV DC transmission channel for massive wind and solar power facilities in the country's Gobi Desert and other arid regions, which has been planned and approved at fastest speed.

The total investment is 28.1 billion yuan, with a total length of about 1,634 kilometers. It will pass through Ningxia, Gansu, Shaanxi, Chongqing, Hubei, and Hunan, and is expected to be put into operation in 2025. There will be 17.64 million kilowatts of supporting power source at the sending end and more than 36 billion kilowatt hours of annual power transmission, accounting for about 1/6 of Hunan's annual electricity consumption. It has the potential to catalyze over 100 billion yuan worth of related industries and supporting equipment industries in both Hunan and Ningxia.

The Miluo pumped-storage hydroelectric plant is a major project of Hunan Province during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. Its total investment will be 8.1 billion yuan, with an installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts. Upon completion, it can effectively guarantee sufficient power supply during peak season and promote safe and stable operation of the provincial power system.
