The Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission recently approved four wind farm projects to accelerate construction of new electrical power system and contribute to achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.

The projects are: Xi'an Wind Farm second phase in Taoyuan County; Daqingshan Wind Farm second phase in Yongshun County; Wuji Wind Farm in Hengdong County; and, Ziliang Wind Farm in Shimen County.

The Xi'an Wind Farm second phase is located in Taoyuan County, with an installed capacity of 185 MW and a total investment of 1.362 billion CNY. Its maximum annual energy output is about 370,000 MWh.

The Daqingshan Wind Farm second phase is in Yongshun County, with an installed capacity of 51.5 MW and a total investment of 409 million CNY. Its maximum annual energy output is about 100,000 MWh.

The Wuji Wind Farm in Hengdong County has an installed capacity of 50 MW and a total investment of 407 million CNY. Its maximum annual energy output is about 100,000 MWh.

The Ziliang Wind Farm in Shimen County has an installed capacity of 60 MW and a total investment of 472 million CNY. Its maximum annual energy output is about 120,000 MWh.

According to the provincial energy authority, by 2025, Hunan's installed capacity of wind power, solar power, and biomass power will exceed 12,000 MW, 13,000 MW, and 1,500 MW respectively, based on the provincial 14th Five-year plan for energy development. Currently, the province's installed capacity of wind power is about 9,000 MW.

Hunan will advocate both centralized and distributed energy production, consolidate the guarantee mechanism for electricity consumption from renewable energy sources, improve renewable energy consumption, and promote development of wind power and other new energy resources in a large-scale, high-proportion, high-quality, and market-oriented manner.
