The People's Government of Hunan Province and the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) had a working meeting in Changsha on the morning of March 24, 2024. Both sides had in-depth discussions on comprehensively implementing President Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions during his visit to Hunan, and promoting the high-quality development of the aviation industry.

Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, and Zhang Zhongyang, deputy secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and general manager of CASC, attended.

Hunan Vice Governor Zhou Haibing, Chinese Academy of Sciences Academician and CASC Science and Technology Commission Director Bao Weimin, and Hunan Provincial Government Secretary General Qu Hai were present.

On March 24, Hunan Provincial Government and CASC had a working meeting. Hunan Governor Mao and CASC Deputy Secretary Zhang attended. 

Governor Mao thanked CASC for its long-term concern and support for Hunan and briefly introduced the provincial economic and social development. He introduced that President Xi Jinping inspected Hunan Province between March 18 and 21, 2024. President Xi urged Hunan to build itself into a national hub for important and advanced manufacturing industries and a sci-tech and innovation center with core competitiveness, and continue to be a pacesetter for reform and opening-up of China's inland regions. He called on concrete steps to propel the rise of China's central region and the development of the Yangtze Economic Belt. He also called on Hunan Province to follow a realistic and pragmatic approach to write its own chapter in advancing Chinese modernization. He underlined the main directions, efforts, and struggles for Hunan to achieve high-quality development, indicating that Hunan's development is now at a brand new historical starting point.

Governor Mao remarked that CASC, with outstanding innovation capabilities and strong core competitiveness, is a national strategic scientific and technological force in China's aerospace science and technology industry. The corporation shares a sound cooperation foundation with Hunan. He expected CASC to continue to expand its investment, and set up more R&D institutions and major platforms and industrial projects in Hunan. Both sides may strengthen coordinated research and deepen industrial collaboration, to promote the transformation of more scientific and technological achievements in Hunan, he said, adding that the government will continue to optimize the business environment and create good conditions for the the company's expansion in Hunan.

Deputy Secretary Zhang thanked Hunan for its concern and support for the corporation. He believed that Hunan enjoys solid industrial foundation, abundant innovation drivers, and sound business environment, laying great cooperation potential for both sides. CASC will give full play to its advantages in technology and talents, and deepen cooperation with Hunan in scientific and technological innovation, application of research outcomes, and training of talents. Both sides may accelerate the building of new research and development institutions and key laboratories, contributing to the high-quality development of the aerospace industry through central enterprise-local government partnership, he added.
