Located in Huaihua International Land Port Economic Development Zone, Huaihua International Land Port covers a total land area of 33.42 square kilometers. It has been designed with a functional structure of "dual-core linkage, dual-belt lead, and seven-function cluster". The "dual core" consists of the logistics function core featuring Huaihua West Cargo Railroad Station and the industrial function core featuring the Peninsula Industrial Cluster. The "dual-belt" consists of the logistics development belt connecting the east and the west and the port-related industry development belt connecting the north and the south. The north-south "seven-function cluster" consists of the urban life cluster, the international trade cluster, the international finance cluster, the logistics cluster, the port industry cluster, the port service cluster, and the function expansion cluster.

Seven-function cluster

On September 13, 2021, the construction project of Huaihua International Land Port was officially launched. By the end of December 2021, the first phase of the customs supervision block was completed with the function of handling international freight documents, cargo inspection, cargo loading and unloading, and storage and distribution. The two-way operation of China-Vietnam (Huaihua-Hanoi) international freight trains has come to pass, the two-way normalized operation of China-Laos (Huaihua-Vientiane) international freight trains and the two-way normalized operation of "Huaihua-Beibu Gulf Port" railroad-seaway intermodal trains have been achieved. Domestically, the two-way daily railroad operation of "Huaihua-North Changsha" is already in place.

Huaihua International Land Port is a strategic platform for connecting RCEP and ASEAN countries, an important engine for high-quality development in the Wuling Mountain region, and a landmark project of reform and opening up in inland China. In accordance with the goal of "taking shape in two years, gaining momentum in three years, and becoming a benchmark in five years", Huaihua International Land Port will link up with a number of areas in the future such as Chengdong District, Chenxi County, and Zhongfang Logistics Town, thus forming a new pattern of "one port with multiple districts", strengthening the connection with air ports and water ports, and realizing the multi-modal linkage of "highways, railways, waterways, and airways". The land port is set to achieve by 2026 an annual cargo throughput of 10 million metric tons, an annual number of more than 500 scheduled trains, and a 100-billion-yuan port-related industry, and to finally realize the development blueprint of serving the country and connecting with ASEAN and the global business world.
