The 2023 Hunan-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy and Trade will open in Changsha on September 22, according to a press conference of the Information Office of the Hunan Provincial People's Government.

The conference is co-hosted by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. The theme is "seize new opportunities to integrate into new patterns". It will be participated by nearly 500 guests from both sides of the Straits, including political and commercial personages and industrial and commercial groups from Taiwan region, the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland, and the provincial- and municipal-level Taiwan investors associations. Among them, there will be nearly 50 Taiwan economic and trade groups and over 60 journalists from both sides of the Straits. It will be the largest-scale session with the most participators in the past ten years.

This session will focus on promoting Hunan-Taiwan cooperation in sci-tech innovation and hi-tech industry, modern agriculture and fitness tourism, and youth innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as cultural exchanges and cooperation. It aims to better undertake the transfer of investments from Taiwan, boost Hunan-Taiwan economic and cultural exchanges and collaboration, deepen industrial integrated development of both sides, and forge closer bonds of heart and mind between people on both sides of the Straits and enhance their sense of national identity. Four main goals are set up, including facilitating personnel exchange, deepening industrial integration, expanding investment promotion, and building consensus.

The second Yuelu Mountain Forum on Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation and the 2023 Cross-Strait Industrial and Sci-tech Symposium on Green and Low-carbon Circular Development will be held in Changsha during the conference. Besides, a match-making meeting on fitness tourism, modern agriculture, and bio-medical industry and a special meeting on undertaking industrial transfer from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be held in Zhangjiajie and Chenzhou respectively. After then, Taiwan business representatives will be invited to tour the cities and prefecture around Hunan and have business negotiations with the local authorities.

As a grand event of Hunan Province to promote economic, trade, and cultural exchange and cooperation with Taiwan region, the Hunan-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy and Trade has been held for 15 sessions since its inauguration in 2005. It has significantly boosted Hunan's economic and social development, and become a calling card of Hunan-Taiwan exchanges and a unique brand event in the central regions of China to promote cross-Strait communication.
