Qualifications |
Candidates who fall into the category of “Three Types of Overseas Chinese” may apply for the extra-mark grant, including:
1. An overseas Chinese student who returns to China for permanent residence and is to sit in the college entrance examination for the current year;
2. A candidate who is the child of returned overseas Chinese and is to sit in the college entrance examination for the current year;
3. A candidate studying in China who is the child of overseas Chinese and is to sit in the college entrance examination for the current year.

Materials Required |
The documents to be submitted are: 1. Application form along with proof of identity as students who are returned overseas Chinese, children of returned overseas Chinese and children, residing overseas; 2. Proof of household and school registration of the applicant (student); 3. Proof of identity as returned overseas Chinese student; 4. Child of returned overseas Chinese shall submit identification documents of his/her father or mother as returned overseas Chinese and proof of the applicant’s relationship with his/her parents; 5. Child of overseas Chinese nationals residing abroad shall provide proof of long term or permanent residence of his/her parent who owns overseas Chinese status, identification documents as overseas Chinese issued by Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, and proof of the applicant’s relationship with his/her parents. |
Procedures |
1. Candidate or his/her parents shall fill in and submit the application form and proof of identity as students who fall into the category of "Three Types of Overseas Chinese". The application shall be signed and sealed by the personnel department of the unit where the parents work, or the sub-district office where the permanent residence of the candidate is located, or the people’s government of the town or township the candidate is located in;
2. Application form and related identification documents shall then be submitted for preliminary examination by the overseas Chinese affairs office of the people's government of the county/county-level city/county-level autonomous district where the candidate is located. After the verification of candidate’s status, the office shall sign the consent and submit the materials to the foreign and overseas Chinese affairs office of the city and prefecture;
3. The foreign and overseas Chinese affairs office of the city and prefecture shall be in charge of the registration and reexamination of the candidate’s status, and submit the signed consent to the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hunan Provincial People's Government;
4. After the centralized reexamination, the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hunan Provincial People’s Government will publicize the name list of student candidates who fall into the category of "Three Types of Overseas Chinese" on its website. The certified name list will then be delivered to the Education and Examination Institute of Hunan Province so that extra-marks can be granted.

Acceptable Period of Time |
Application should be submitted during the period between the end of April and the beginning of June. The processing time limit promised by the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hunan Provincial People’s Government is 30 working days from the day applications are submitted for collective processing. |
