The Loudi Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, Hunan's first national regional medical center construction project, was officially inaugurated on September 28, 2026. Zhong Nanshan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Ma Jun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Jiang Difei, vice governor of Hunan Province, attended the inauguration ceremony.

Loudi Hospital is jointly built by the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University and Loudi Central Hospital, with 1,200 planned beds and a total construction area of 260,000 square meters. The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University is a national pacesetter in respiratory disease diagnosis and treatment. The respiratory discipline led by Academician Zhong Nanshan has ranked first in the country for many consecutive years. Its thoracic surgery, critical care medicine, and urology are all national key clinical specialties.

Building a national regional medical center aims to optimize the distribution of medical resources, enhance regional medical service capabilities, and address the problem of difficult access to medical care for the public. Loudi Hospital focuses on "respiratory medicine and oncology" as its two main pillars, systematically transplanting brand, technology, talent, and management systems. Over the past two years, the hospital has carried out multiple first-in-province surgeries and introduced 63 new technologies, striving to build a locally based, national-caliber medical team.

The inauguration of the hospital marks a phased achievement in Guangdong and Hunan working together to expand and channel high-quality medical resources to the grassroots. Loudi Hospital has now established medical consortium cooperation with 46 units, forming a medical coordination network covering all districts and counties of Loudi as well as Huaihua, Shaoyang, Xiangxiang, and other areas. This has enabled people in Loudi and the surrounding regions to receive good medical care "at their doorstep" and enjoy the benefits of national medical development.
