Yutou Ancient Dong Village was first built during the reign of
Emperor Hongwu of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Having endured over 600
years of history, the village still preserves a large number of
architectural structures from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The drum
tower, a landmark of the Dong village, features intricate carvings on
its upturned eaves and brackets. A sheltered bridge spans across a
stream, demonstrating the wisdom of Dong craftsmen through its entirely
wooden mortise-and-tenon structure. Rustic dwellings with blue-gray
tiled roofs and wooden structures are arranged along the stone-paved
paths, presenting a strong ethnic ambiance.
