Zhangjiajie Sees Over 720,000 Inbound Tourist Trips in First 7 Months

On August 13, the magnificent peaks of Huangshizhai Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park were shrouded in mist after rainfall, resembling a fairyland on earth. Many foreign tourists visiting the area couldn't help but marvel repeatedly at the breathtaking view, "Very beautiful!"

Foreign tourists—whether traveling in groups, with family, or independently—can be seen everywhere in scenic spots across Zhangjiajie, reflecting the city's growing global appeal. From January to July this year, Zhangjiajie received 722,300 inbound tourist trips, with total tourism-related revenue reaching 376 million USD, marking year-on-year increases of 14.2% and 16.42%, respectively.

Data shows that from January to July, the top ten countries and regions of inbound tourists to Zhangjiajie were South Korea, China's Hong Kong SAR, China's Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the U.S., Thailand, Russia, and France. South Korea remains Zhangjiajie's largest source of inbound tourists, with 238,451 visitors from the country during this period.

The structure of inbound tourism continues to improve, with a significant increase in visitors from European and American countries. In terms of tourist source markets, the number of tourists from the U.S., Russia, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Canada, and other European and American countries has grown rapidly. From January to July, Zhangjiajie recorded 27,903 American tourists (up 36.62% year-on-year), 10,312 German tourists (up 79.58%), and 9,617 Italian tourists (up 215.47%).

Leveraging its rich resources, Zhangjiajie has been actively expanding into Southeast Asian, European, and American markets while consolidating the South Korean market. The city continues to enhance its global reputation and appeal through various measures, inlcuding opening more international flight routes, organizing tourism promotion activities, and collaborating with overseas travel agencies. Zhangjiajie has also hosted high-profile events like the World Wingsuit League (WWL) Wingsuit Flying World Championship, introduced new outdoor adventure experiences such as Via Ferrata on Qixing Mountain and bungee jumping at the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, and constantly innovated its tourism offerings. Efforts have also been made to promote Zhangjiajie worldwide and expand its global presence.

Additionally, Zhangjiajie has optimized international-friendly services in transportation, accommodation, dining, and payment systems. As one of China's first key cities to improve payment services, Zhangjiajie is committed to creating a high-quality, diverse, and convenient travel environment for international visitors.
