Operas-Yueyang

Yueyang Flower-drum Opera is a local opera developed from folk songs and dances, and performed in the local dialect of Yueyang and Lingxiang. Accompanied by the gong and drum, actors and actresses do singing and dancing while paying particular attention to performing with the fan. All the plays tell the stories about people's life.

 

Baling Opera is representative of the local operas of Northeast Hunan, and a "living fossil" for the study of Yueyang's history, culture and folk customs. It mainly takes tanqiang as the main tune, and concurrently adopts kunqiang, zaqiang, and ditty. The most famous play of Baling Opera is He Tengjiao.
