Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, met in Changsha with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and his delegation on April 26, 2026.

On behalf of the provincial Party committee, the provincial government, and the people of Hunan Province, Secretary Shen expressed a warm welcome to President Zardari, and briefed him on Hunan's profile. Shen remarked that the China-Pakistan friendship is rock-solid. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Hunan will earnestly implement the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and the head of state of Pakistan, deepening substantial cooperation with Pakistan in such areas as economy, trade, science, technology, education, and healthcare, actively integrating into the joint development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and making Hunan contributions to fostering an even stronger China-Pakistan community of shared future.
President Zardari thanked Hunan for its hospitality. He noted that Pakistan and China are close neighbors, and appreciated China's continued help and support for Pakistan's development. Hunan, with its solid industrial foundations, holds broad prospects for cooperation with Pakistan. He expressed hope to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with Hunan in various fields for more fruitful achievements, and welcomed more Hunan enterprises to invest or start businesses in Pakistan to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
During his stay in Hunan, President Zardari and his delegation toured Changsha and Xiangtan. In Shaoshan, he presented a flower basket to the bronze statue of Comrade Mao Zedong and visited the Mao Zedong Memorial Museum. In Changsha, he visited the Xingsha Industrial Park of SANY Group and the Hunan Tea Group, exploring "intelligent manufacturing in China" and experiencing the charm of Chinese tea culture.
Relevant officials from Pakistan's Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue and Sindh and Balochistan provinces, as well as Pakistan's ambassador to China, accompanied the delegation during the visit. Jiang Zaidong, Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, and Hunan's provincial leaders Wang Daoxi and Hu Xusheng attended relevant activities.
