The "Invest in Hunan" Hunan-Switzerland Special Matchmaking Conference on Biomedicine and Artificial Intelligence Industries was held in the Canton of Schaffhausen, Switzerland on October 28 local time. The meeting aimed to build a platform for two-way investment and cooperation between Hunan and Switzerland in fields such as biomedicine and artificial intelligence.

Representatives from Hunan enterprises such as Zoomlion and Wasion, as well as more than 20 Swiss enterprises, research centers, and universities, attended the conference. Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone, and representative enterprises from Hunan engaged in matchmaking discussions with attending merchants, reaching preliminary cooperation intentions on multiple matters.

"Biomedicine and artificial intelligence are the two fields in Hunan featuring the fastest development and the greatest potential for collaboration with Schaffhausen," said Liu Suyue, deputy director of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province. By the end of 2025, Hunan had more than 80,000 biomedical production and operation enterprises and 21 listed companies, with a total output value exceeding 350 billion CNY. The artificial intelligence industry reached a scale of 85 billion CNY, gathering more than 400 key enterprises. Twelve generative large models in Hunan have passed national filing, ranking first in central China.

At the conference, Deputy Director Liu elaborated on Hunan's "5C" advantages in serving foreign-funded enterprises—cost, consumer base, cluster, college, and convenience—sincerely inviting more Swiss enterprises to visit and invest in Hunan.

Christoph Schärrer, head of the Economic Development Agency of the Canton of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, warmly welcomed the Hunan economic and trade delegation. He introduced the local industrial foundation in high-precision component manufacturing, medical devices, and intelligent robotics, and expressed willingness to promote deeper cooperation between enterprises of the two regions in R&D and industrialization.

The Canton of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and Hunan Province have established a provincial-level friendship city relationship. In September 2026, the Economic Development Agency of the Canton of Schaffhausen and the Humanoid Robotics Association Switzerland (HRAS) visited Hunan for inspections. They participated in the 2026 Hunan International Friendship Cities Economic and Trade Event and Cooperation Dialogue.
