The Huaihua International Land Port handled a total of 1,051 freight train trips in the first three quarters, totaling 52,524 containers, a year-on-year increase of 16%, according to the Land-Sea New Corridor Operation (Hunan) Co., Ltd. on October 21. These trains transported 950,000 tonnes of goods with a total value of about 7.9 billion CNY. This demonstrates strong growth momentum and an increasingly enhanced role of the port as an international logistics hub, promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and ASEAN countries.

Huaihua is Hunan's only freight assembly center serving ASEAN countries. Currently, Huaihua International Land Port has opened 217 routes, with its transport network spanning 252 ports and stations across 75 countries and regions. The types of goods transported encompass 17 categories and 539 specific items.

Huaihua International Land Port continues to expand its freight train services. The port's rail-sea intermodal trains linking Huaihua and Beibu Gulf Port have completed a total of 399 trips, with total value of shipped goods reaching about 4.5 billion CNY. Outbound shipments primarily consist of wood-based materials and industrial raw materials such as plywood, paper rolls, and sodium sulfate; return shipments mainly consist of mineral resources such as chromite, manganese ore, and high-grade nickel matte, effectively ensuring the stability of domestic industrial and supply chains.

A total of 189 China-Laos freight train trips have been handled, with a total cargo value of approximately 1.3 billion CNY. Outbound shipments consist primarily of general merchandise, photovoltaic glass, and ammonium sulfate, while return shipments consist mainly of Southeast Asian specialty agricultural products and raw materials such as cassava starch, bananas, and teak lumber. The China-Vietnam freight train service has operated a total of 40 trips. Outbound shipments consist mainly of industrial manufactured goods such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), steel, and tires, while return shipments consist primarily of tropical fruits such as dragon fruit, bananas, and mangoes.

Rail-sea intermodal trains from Huaihua to Guangzhou Port and Shenzhen Port are operating steadily, primarily transporting light industrial products and household goods—including auto parts, luggage and bags, rattan chairs, and paper cups—demonstrating the vitality of Hunan's manufacturing sector in "going global."

Cold-chain logistics has become a distinctive feature of the Huaihua International Land Port. In the first three quarters, the port handled a total of 39 cold-chain freight train trips, carrying 1,944 containers. Of the total, 11 were foreign trade cold-chain train trips, a year-on-year increase of 27%, mainly transporting imported fruits such as bananas, dragon fruit, and mangoes; 28 were domestic trade cold-chain train trips, mainly transporting agricultural products such as vegetables and flowers, helping Hunan products reach markets beyond the province.
