The 2026 Forum on Overseas Chinese Innovation and Entrepreneurship opened in Changsha on September 22, themed "Overseas Returnees Gather on Xiangjiang Riverside, Intelligent Technologies Create Brighter Future." The forum is a signature brand event for the overseas Chinese and overseas talent initiative launched by the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party. Since its inception in 2021, it has been held in Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning, and other places, helping a number of talent, technologies, and projects take root and grow. The forum has become an important platform for overseas returnees to offer advice, pursue innovation and entrepreneurship, and access resource matchmaking. This year, the forum was held in Changsha for the first time, joining forces with Hunan's Overseas Returnees Forum which has been held for 13 consecutive years, to pool resources and empower development. This year's forum featured an opening ceremony, an exhibition of innovation and entrepreneurship achievements, and an international seminar on educational, scientific and technological talent development. A series of events were held, including the finals of the 13th Overseas Returnees Forum Project Selection Contest, a matchmaking session for returning talent, and a symposium for heads of returnee organizations.
