The 19th Pujiang Innovation Forum opened in Shanghai on September 12, 2026. Hunan Province was invited to attend as the guest province of honor for this forum. Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, addressed the opening ceremony.

On September 12, the 19th Pujiang Innovation Forum opened in Shanghai. Hunan Secretary Shen Xiaoming attended and delivered a speech.

Secretary Shen, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, expressed congratulations on the forum and gratitude to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Shanghai, and all sectors of society for their long-term care and support for Hunan. He said that President Xi Jinping has attached great importance to and placed high hopes on Hunan's scientific and technological innovation. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, President Xi Jinping had visited Hunan four times, each time putting forward requirements for scientific and technological innovation. He urged Hunan to build itself into a national hub for important and advanced manufacturing industries and a sci-tech and innovation center with core competitiveness, and continue to be a pacesetter for reform and opening-up of China's inland regions.

In recent years, Hunan has meticulously implemented President Xi Jinping's important instructions on building itself into a sci-tech and innovation center with core competitiveness. The province has strived to leverage its advantages of relatively strong comprehensive strength in higher education, a solid manufacturing foundation, low living costs, and good quality of life, to roll out landmark projects such as building Changsha into a global R&D center and the "Artificial Intelligence +" initiative. It has actively explored effective mechanisms for integrating culture and technology, launched several measures to support university students' entrepreneurship, and worked hard to advance the construction of a scientific and technological innovation hub in depth and in practice. Hunan will take this forum as an opportunity to further draw on the experience and practices of Shanghai and other provinces and cities, deepening exchanges and seeking cooperation together. The province will contribute to accelerating the realization of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

The Pujiang Innovation Forum was founded in 2008 and co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. It has become an important platform for global scientific and technological innovation exchanges and collaboration. The theme of this forum is "Sharing Innovation and Shaping the Future: The Mission of the Global Sc-Tech Community Amid a New Round of Sci-Tech Revolution." It consists of the opening ceremony and main forum, thematic forums, youth innovation lectures, achievement release conferences, and many other activities. As the guest province of honor, Hunan will actively participate in various activities, setting up the Hunan Pavilion at the venue, showcasing Hunan's sci-tech innovation achievements in a concentrated manner, and extensively carrying out sci-tech innovation exchanges and cooperation.

Also present were provincial leaders Guo Lingji, Wang Junshou, and Liu Yang. Before the opening ceremony, attending leaders and guest representatives also visited the Hunan Pavilion and other exhibition areas.
