Changsha Changtai Robot Co., Ltd. (Changtai) recently received a "hardcore" delivery from Europe: its self-developed embodied intelligent winding robot has passed EU CE certification, becoming the first industrial embodied intelligent robot product in China to obtain this credential.

CE certification serves as the safety access "passport" for products entering the EU market. Unlike general self-declarations, this certification was conducted by TÜV Rheinland, an independent international third-party testing, inspection, and certification body. TÜV's testing is renowned for its rigor, covering dimensions such as safety, intelligence, and batch consistency. Clearing this threshold means that Changtai's products now possess the compliance qualifications required to enter the European market.

Founded in 2010, Changtai is among the first batch of national-level "little giant" enterprises, which refer to the novel elites of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are engaged in manufacturing, specialize in a niche market and boast cutting-edge technologies. Focusing on the R&D and manufacturing of intelligent high-end equipment, it is a subsidiary of Hunan Zhongnan Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. Its independently developed industrial robot, "Changsha No. 1," is the first industrial robot in Hunan Province with fully independent intellectual property rights.

The newly certified embodied intelligent winding robot is one of Changtai's three major standardized export product lines, the other two being the embodied intelligent fabric winding and inspection machine, and the embodied intelligent cleaning and polishing robot. Designed for mid-to-high-end transformer manufacturing scenarios, the winding robot is suitable for the mass production of circular single-axis high-voltage coils. The key technology lies in a tension closed-loop control system, which maintains stable tension throughout the winding process. This effectively prevents process defects such as wire crossover and coil collapse, offering both versatility and flexibility.

According to Gao Di, chairman of the company, the enterprise has established joint laboratories with Hunan University and Central South University, achieving breakthroughs in core technologies such as embodied intelligent perception and hybrid force-position control. This serves as the technical foundation that enabled the product to pass the stringent EU certification.

In terms of its global expansion strategy, Changtai is accelerating overseas compliance certifications. It is iterating its entire product series to meet the specific standards of different regions, including the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Furthermore, it leverages data from deployed projects to drive feedback-based algorithm optimization, thereby enhancing the equipment's environmental adaptability.

Previously, the company has undertaken multiple key special projects on intelligent equipment for the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Notably, its products are the only domestically made equipment of their kind to be used by a well-known U.S. tech company.
