Hunan's Valid Invention Patents Exceed 150,000

The Administration for Market Regulation of Hunan Province recently released the latest data. As of the end of this July, Hunan had 151,435 valid invention patents, and the province's intellectual property development trend has been steadily improving.

From the perspective of patent creation subjects, service invention patents numbered 149,192, constituting the absolute main force in invention patent output. Enterprises, with an output of 98,075, served as the main drivers of innovation. Universities and research institutions produced 45,504 and 3,716 respectively, consolidating the foundation of industry-university-research collaborative innovation. Non-service individual invention patents reached 2,243, indicating that the innovation vitality of the whole society is thriving.

Regionally, the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan area leads the province. Changsha leads by a wide margin provincewide with 97,825 valid invention patents, achieving a patent density of 91.24 patents per 10,000 people. Zhuzhou and Xiangtan rank second and third with 15,577 and 10,116 respectively. The three cities have gathered the vast majority of high-quality invention patent resources in the province.

Among all the valid invention patents, those from enterprises account for 64.76%. Enterprise output accounts for about 65.74% of service invention patents, showing that Hunan-based enterprises have become the main force in technological innovation, that innovation activities are increasingly aligned with actual industrial needs, and that intellectual property is deeply integrated with the real economy.
